Excellent violin made in 1955 by Leo Aschauer for the Moennig Violin Shop in Philadelphia. Aschauer was the director of the Mittenwald school of violin making for 37 years and took the younger Moennig under his wing for traditional lutherie training. This instrument has a luminous golden-orange oil varnish and an extraordinary and powerful depth of tone.
